Less ambiguous than Oothon, Ompha!e is based on a myth. Hermes sold Hercules as a slave to a lydian"barbarian" queen, Omphale. In this illustration the clothing, ethnicity and sexuality frame a metaphor to American history and social dynamics that play out to this day.
